World Coffee Conference 2010: Kicks off Today!
 

Guatemala City, February 26, 2010 - In an opening ceremony this morning, Mr. Álvaro Colom, president of Guatemala, chiefs of state and ministers of member countries of the international Coffee Organization (ICO), along with high-level representatives of multilateral donor organizations, officially launched the start of the World Coffee Conference 2010, at the Westin Camino Real hotel in Guatemala City, Guatemala, to be held from Friday 26th to Sunday 28th of February.

A New Guide for Exporting SMEs
 

As part of the International Trade Centre (ITC) publications, the How to Access Trade Finance: A Guide for Exporting SMEs is now available online in an effort to help SMEs in these times of crisis. With an aim to boost trade competitiveness among small firms in developing countries and trade support institutions, this new publication from the ITC, represents another important tool for FAST producer exporting members to understand the basics of “how” to obtain finance.

FAST at the XIII World Forestry Congress
 

The Finance Alliance for Sustainable Trade (FAST) presented at the XIIIth World Forestry Congress (WFC) in Buenos Aires, Argentina, from October 18-23 2009. Organized by the government of Argentina in collaboration with FAO forestry department, it’s 13th chapter will bring together around 6,000 participants from more than 160 countries to address the main subject theme: “Forests in development – a vital balance”.

On Thursday September 3rd, 2009, The Finance Alliance for Sustainable Trade (FAST) held a Sustainable Finance Forum: "Investment Opportunities in sustainable trade", co-hosted by the Ramacafe, and supported by HIVOS, Project CAMBio, the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) and the International Finance Corporation (IFC).

FAST at Ramacafe 2009
 

As part of the upcoming 6th Annual Ramacafe International Coffee Conference from September 1st-3rd, 2009, the Finance Alliance for Sustainable Trade (FAST) will participate at the conference session entitled "Producer Financing" on September 2nd, and will co-host the "Sustainable Finance Forum" on the 3rd day of the Ramacafe Conference. Both will be held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel Convention Center, Managua, Nicaragua.

FAST Expands into New Office
 

With the everyday progression and growth of FAST, we are excited to announce that we have expanded into a larger head secretariat office as of August 1st 2009. The new office is located in the main financial business area in downtown Montreal, Quebec, Canada. In this coming month, we are also welcoming three new staff members in the Secretariat: Christine Bui (Project and Fundraising Manager), Nader Farhat (ICT Administrator) and Thu Nguyen (Administration Assistant).
